Do you perform religious ceremonies? No, I do not, as I am a Civil Marriage Commissioner.
What do we need to get married?
You need an Alberta Marriage Licence and there will need to be 2 adult
witnesses present. You will need to go
together to any Registry Agent to obtain the Licence, which is valid for 90
days. If one or both of you has been married before, you will need your final divorce
documents or a death certificate in order to obtain the licence. For more
information please click here to visit the Service Alberta website https://www.alberta.ca/get-marriage-licence
Do you perform same sex marriages? Absolutely! I joyfully marry LGBTQ+ couples. And you never need to mention it in any inquiries you are making - I will be delighted to marry you!
Can we involve our children in the ceremony? Of course. There are several lovely ways you can have them play a part in your special day - from holding the rings, to sharing vows, or a sand ceremony. Do let me know if this is something I can help you with.
Do you give us a Wedding Certificate? On
your wedding day I will leave you with a Civil Marriage Statement – a hand
written document that is proof of your marriage. However, in order to obtain an
official government Wedding Certificate, it will be necessary to go to an
Alberta Registry agent a few weeks after your marriage and order one there once
I have registered your marriage with Vital Statistics. It is possible for me to
expedite that process for you by registering your marriage in person. There is a fee for this service - please see
my Rates and Packages page.
Do you ever marry more than 1 couple on
the same day? Yes – but 2 weddings in one day is my maximum,
and I always make sure that there is more than ample time between the ceremonies
so that there is zero risk of a time squeeze.
Can we get married at your property? Absolutely.
We have an acreage about 15 minutes west of Spruce View and can host small wedding ceremonies with a total of 10 people. For details please click on
the Weddings at our Acreage page.
Do you charge travel fees?
If you are getting married within Red Deer County, or Red Deer itself here is no travel fee. For weddings outside of the County, there is a minimum
fee of $75.
How do we book your services?
A deposit of $100 is due upon booking, payable by way of e-transfer and
the remainder is due a week before your wedding. Please click here for
details How to Book.
What if we can't decide between the 3 wedding packages you offer? If
you are unsure, send me an email with your questions and I will be more than happy to help you decide which package is right for the two of you? Want to see the Standard Ceremony vows before you decide? No problem!
